I Bear Witness
In the middle of the tashahhud comes the greatest sentence a person can ever say. You become a witness, standing up and declaring two truths: that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad ﷺ is His slave and His messenger. And the order of those words hides something beautiful.
Chapter 6
When You Sit and Greet Your Lord
Near the end of the prayer, we sit and say the tashahhud. It begins by handing every kind of honor and goodness to Allah, and then it sends peace out in widening circles, to the Prophet ﷺ, to us, and to every good soul who ever lived.
